A “Lightwear” floor lamp, Nina Bacun & Roberta Bratovic,
Croatia, 2012, oak, hand-embroidered cotton, embroidered logotype: Lightwear, height 177 cm, diameter 55 cm. (DR) With a certificate. One of two prototypes featuring different textile fabrics for the shades. The planned series-produced model will have textile shades featuring a laser-cut pattern. Lit.: Elle France, November 2012 - Revista Case e Jardim, Brazil 2012. Exhibited in: Milan Furniture Fair, Ventura Lambrata, 17–22 April 2012 - Paris Design Week, 28 Sept. – 7 Oct. 2012 - An Exhibition of Croatian Design, Muzey za umjetnost i obrt, Zagreb, 13 Sept. – 15 Nov. 2012. “Intriguing pageantry of women’s national costumes, as well as their fall into oblivion, have inspired a contemplation about the new contextualization that would bring them back to life outside the museums. The bottom part of the costume from Bizovac (Croatia) embeds specific traditional handwork techniques, such as embroidery, needle lace and pleating. As a lampshade, it preserves the shape, typological layering, and decorative details. Moreover, it acquires a new function – the possibility of controlling the light by simply lifting the layers, which also implies a new amusing characteristic.” (Nina Bacun)
