Imperial Court Memorabilia

The Imperial Family division is an internationally recognised Dorotheum specialty. Our auctions offer historical objects such as the estates of higher noble families or personal articles of historical import as well as portraits of rulers, including the House of Habsburg, the House of Wittelsbach, the Russian Imperial Family, Austrian-Hungarian higher nobility, and a variety of historical paintings. Coveted souvenirs of crowned heads from years past bring history alive and give it a personal touch. Particularly popular are memorabilia of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, known as “Sisi”, and her husband, Emperor Francis Joseph I. Past Imperial Family auctions at the Dorotheum have offered Empress Sisi’s secret beauty recipes, a watch given to Emperor Franz Joseph I as a present and one of Crown Prince Rudolf’s childhood drawings.
